     A mysterious non-viral global pandemic places the population of young adults into a coma for weeks.

 

     The nearly instantaneous infection rate of the outbreak takes the world by surprise. The medical community can neither identify the contagion nor the method of transmission, resulting in a failure to find a preventative and a cure.

 

     Upon awakening from their stasis, those who are alive discover that despite the fact they have emerged with perfect physical health, most experience shock, severe depression, and PTSD. As the survivors struggle to rebuild their world, they must choose between transforming their lives or ending their misery with suicide.

 

     Lawrence Williams, a university academic dean, and Edgar Marten, a physician and genetic scientist, anchor a team to improve victim rehabilitation and prevent mass self-destruction.
